The Early Years

On February 13, 1962, Robyn Renee was born to Lou and Nancy Rambousek in Soap Lake, Washington, where Lou was stationed while serving in the Air Force. Lou chuckled through the whole labor, a fact Nancy never let him forget. At one point during labor, the nurse brought in some blue beads. Lou said, "Take them back. It's a girl." He was right. At 12:52am Robyn joined older brother, Larry, who celebrated his first birthday just five days prior. Younger brother, Scott, completed the trio of siblings the following year. The family moved several times before settling on a farm in Tangent, Oregon, where they raised sheep, cattle, pigs, and rabbits. In 1969, her sister, Katrina, was born, an event Robyn greatly anticipated. In this era, children were not allowed in hospital rooms, so the new baby was held up to the window for the three siblings to see. Upon seeing her new sister and realizing this wee tot was not the instant playmate she expected, Robyn demanded, "Take her back!" Her parents, however, declined.
